Work in Progress....

Even though it has been months since my last post; I have not gone away. I still reading my Google Reader almost everyday. I love looking for inspiration among all the wonderful women out there blogging, working with such dedication everyday. Thank you to those women who take the time out of their busy schedules to help someone like me find beauty in the everyday things and to reveal in the beauty of a well decorated mantel or end table or the joy in a beautiful golden loaf of homemade bread.

I intend to post more blogs. I hope I can someday inspire others and I have been so deeply motivated by the blogs I've followed. Life just tends to move so fast and the days turn to weeks...then next thing you know is that it's time to put Christmas lights up again, and I feel like I just took them down.

I am trying to slow down...enjoy the small stuff...not be so stressed out...simplfy...love bigger and laugh louder.
Here I am just a girl, just a mom, just a wife....still looking for inspiration.
Always,
Christy

PS: These pics were from a Sunday country drive in South East Idaho with my Hubby. Oh, that was the 1st bull moose I'd ever laid eyes on, and I can tell ya he was one big daddy!

My New Favorite Thing

I have eliminated the phrase feared most by all moms with teenagers in the house....

"What's for Dinner?"

I picked this up at one of my fav closeout haunts. I think I paid 69 cents for it. Who knew that such a simple item could change my life so. It's a magnetic whiteout board that now lives on my refrigerator.

My kids actually fought over who could help make the menu. Unbelievable...believe it! Even more unbelievable: it has encouraged them to help out in the kitchen and learn how to cook. I have even caught them nosing through my cookbooks. Tonight my daughter and hubby loved the time they spent together creating our enchilada dinner. Which by the way was mouthwatering!
Who woulda thought 69 cents could change my kids?

Looking for Inspiration

Valentine's Day is over and now it's time to decorate for spring. I am so excited about spring, especially since when I look out the window now all I see is white. I am dreaming of green grass and pink tulips. So this morning I was on the hunt for inspiration to get decorating.

I found this fun paper bag wreath at MaryJanes and Galoshes. I love the butterflies, perfect craft to make for spring.

These etched glasses from Better Homes & Gardens would surely look great on any spring time table.

I adore the furniture painted turquoise! This color totally reminds me of spring (and Tiffany boxes) From HGTV.com

This bangle bracelet so reminds me of spring time! I love love love this. From Amy987 at Etsy. I noticed she's also got some other great spring inspired jewelry.

I think the little blue eggs are so cute. What a great way to bring a little spring into your wardrobe. I found this and other great pieces at ERMoriginals on Etsy.

Well y'all seen it...this spring I am wholly and totally inspired by blue. I have never been a blue person and have NO blue in my house (except for a few strips in a rug my Hubby picked out and in the boys room.) So this new blue phase that I am entering has (...should I dare say it?...) completely came out of the blue.

I Must Admit....I am Addicted...Still

Those who know me are already aware of this addition. It started years ago as I tagged along with my Mom visiting antique store after antique stores weekend after weekend. (Note to my Mom: I know I complained weekend after weekend about being dragged all over creation during your antiquing adventures. But now that I am all grown and out numbered in the boy to girl ratio in my home; well I tend to miss those weekends with you, as I travel to and from numerous sporting events. Thanks Mom!) Well wanting to be like my Mom in her treasure hunt, I wanted to hunt for something too. Finally I settled on some cute and adorable little figurines. I could find ones that suited my style, seasons, holidays, and girly girlness; not to meantion they could fit my weekly allowance budget.
So thus my love for salt and pepper shakers begun!

Here is my newest addition:

Just in time for Easter and oh so cute!

Do you have any additions you would like to share?

I Won!

I have been holding out on this post for a few day, mainly due to my ignorance in blogging. I could not figure out how to link to Jenn's page. So sorry for the delay but here it is:

I am so excited to win my first blog contest!!! Please check out Jenn at Livin' the Simple Life.

Lisa Leonard has the most amazing pieces. I can't wait to get my custom necklace. My family helped my pick out this one:

I think its adorable, and with my three kids name's on it, I know I will cherish it forever.

Thank you Jenn and Lisa!

Goodwill and DI Finds

Yesterday I got to break away from the homestead for a little thrifting and found a few goodies. I was planning on cleaning my house and catching up on laundry this afternoon but it finally broke 40 degrees outside today....so of course the logical thing to do is sit out on the back deck taking pictures. Oh well, maybe I'll get visited by the laundry fairy tonight.

I fell in love with these "iron trees". I plan on using them in my "white" dream bedroom. But for now I thought I could use them for Easter decorating. And a steal at $1.50 each. (Gotta love GW's half off tags!)

The little birdies make me smile and I love the shabby chic'ness of it. (Is that even a word?)

I've seen keys all over the blog-a-sphere and had to hold back my enthusiasm when I spotted this iron charm $1 at DI. Also the white wall pocket that's just waiting for its Easter makeover (50 cents).

I saw this white porcelain tray ($2)and had the idea to add some chalkboard paint; but the red 'R' that I bought had its own idea, and positioned itself into frame perfectly while in the shopping bag on the way home. Hmmm...is it a match made in GW heaven?

I have not attempted any vinyl creations of my own, but for $2 I thought this baby could find a home with me.

I also picked up two mirrored ornaments, and for 50 cents I know I can find a place for them too.

Happy Thrifting!

Sunday Morning Dreams

Today I am dreaming about what my garden will look like this spring. I've been planning it out in my head. Since my garden is still sleeping under the snow and it is too cold for anything to grow, I will have to settle for planting in my little indoor Jiffy Green House. I hope these things work...I think I'll start with the herbs. I have never grown fresh herbs but I have been inspired to try it this year.
